Careers portal settings and branding

Set your logo, colours, wording, filters and legal links for the public careers page, and embed the page on your own website.

Set your logo, colours, wording, filters and legal links for the public careers page, and embed the page on your own website.

Your public careers page is set up in one place: Settings > Company > Careers Page. Changes apply as soon as they are saved. There is no draft or publish step for the page itself. Which jobs appear on it depends on how each job is published, which is covered in Publishing to job boards.

Who can change these settings

Only System Admin users can open the Careers Page settings and save changes. HR and Member users are turned away with the message "Only admins can manage careers page settings." If your organisation has more than one company, a company selector at the top of the page lets a group user choose which company's page to edit. Each company has its own settings.

Buttons at the top of the page

  • Copy Embed Code opens a menu with External careers page and Internal careers page. The internal option is greyed out until the internal careers page has been switched on (see below).
  • View Careers Page opens your public page in a new tab. The page address cannot be changed on this screen.

Which button saves what

The screen is split into areas that save separately. Leaving an area without saving it loses only that area's edits.

  • The logo and the header image save the moment you upload or remove them.
  • Colours and the email signature save with the Save button inside the Branding area.
  • Page content, the appearance switches, vacancy page fields, job alerts, social links and the privacy policy address all save together with the Save button at the very bottom of the page.
  • The Internal Careers Page and Register Your Interest areas each have their own Save button.

A successful save shows "Saved successfully".

Logo and branding

  1. Under Company Logo, select the logo tile or Upload Logo and choose a file. JPEG, PNG, WebP and SVG files are accepted, up to 2MB. The logo is saved and shown straight away. If it fails you will see "Failed to save logo. Please try again."
  2. To swap it, select the tile again. To take it away, select Remove Logo. With no logo, the page shows a coloured square containing your company's first letter.
  3. Under Branding, set the Primary Colour with the colour picker or by typing a hex code such as #6366F1. It must be a six-digit code starting with #.
  4. Optionally write an Email Signature. Use the Rich text editor, or switch to Raw HTML if you have a signature ready to paste. The limit is 10,000 characters. Scripts, frames, forms and event attributes are not allowed. If the signature is rejected you will see a message beneath it, such as "Could not save the email signature. Check the HTML and try again." Fix the HTML and save again.
  5. Select Save in the Branding area.

The primary colour fills the banner at the top of the careers page and is used for accents on the job and application pages. Your logo and colour also appear on PDFs that Recruit produces for you, such as exported application forms and offer documents. The email signature is added to the bottom of emails sent from Recruit. Near the bottom of the settings page, a Careers Page Preview card shows your logo, the colour you are editing and the headline and tagline as last saved.

Page content

These three fields fill the banner at the top of the page.

  • Headline: up to 255 characters. The placeholder reads "Join Our Team".
  • Tagline: up to 500 characters.
  • Introduction: up to 5,000 characters, shown under the tagline.

Select the bottom Save to apply them.

Appearance

Every switch here starts off and works the same way: switching it on hides the item. Select the bottom Save after changing any of them.

  • Hide header removes the top bar with your logo and company name. Use it when the page is embedded in a site that already has its own header.
  • Hide banner removes the coloured banner with the headline, tagline and introduction. It also hides the header image.
  • Hide privacy policy link in footer removes the Privacy Policy link from the footer. Use it when your own site already links to a privacy policy. The privacy links inside the cookie banner and the consent tick boxes stay, so candidates can always reach a policy before agreeing.
  • Hide department filter, Hide job type filter, Hide job time filter and Hide location filter remove those drop-down filters from the job list.
  • Hide location search and Hide job title search remove the two search boxes.
  • Hide vacancy reference number removes the reference from the job list and from each job page.

Even when a filter is not hidden, the job type, job time and location filters only appear when at least one live role has a value to filter by. The department filter always appears unless you hide it.

Vacancy page fields

Under Vacancy page fields, a switch for each of three details controls whether it is shown on the public job page: job type, location and salary. These switches work the other way round to the hide switches. On means shown, and all start on.

Job alerts

The Job alerts switch adds a sign-up form to the bottom of your careers page, so candidates can ask for an email when a matching role is posted. Below it, four switches (Hide category field, Hide job type field, Hide job time field and Hide location field) remove those choices from the sign-up form. A candidate who never sees a field gets alerts for any value of it. These four stay greyed out until Job alerts is on. The View subscribers link opens the subscriber list. How alerts are matched and sent is covered in Job alerts.

Per-location imagery

Switch on Enable per-location imagery to show a small picture beside the location on each job in the list and on the job page. The picture comes from the job's saved location. You add or replace it in Settings > Company > Locations, after saving the location (see Managing locations). Jobs whose location has no picture show nothing extra.

Header image

Under Header Image, select Upload Image to add a background picture to the banner. JPEG, PNG, WebP and SVG are accepted, up to 2MB. It appears behind a tint of your primary colour, so the headline stays readable, and it saves immediately. To remove it, select the red cross in the corner of the preview.

Social links and privacy policy

Under Social Links, enter the addresses of your LinkedIn, Twitter / X and Glassdoor pages, each up to 500 characters. Only the ones you fill in appear, as small icons at the foot of the page, and each opens in a new tab.

Under Legal, Privacy Policy URL replaces HireRoad's default privacy policy with yours wherever candidates meet a link on your careers page, job pages and application form. It must start with http:// or https:// and be no longer than 2,048 characters, otherwise the form shows "Must be a valid URL". Clear the field and save to return to the default. Cookies and consent lists every place the link appears.

What candidates see

From top to bottom, the page shows the header bar, the banner, the search boxes and filters, the list of open roles and, if you have switched it on, the job alerts form. The footer has your social icons, then Privacy Policy and Terms of Service. Each role in the list shows its title, department, location, job type, vacancy reference, closing date and salary where they are set, with a View & Apply button. Roles are listed 20 to a page with Previous and Next buttons. With no live roles the page reads "No open positions at the moment."

If you switch on Register Your Interest, the page splits into two tabs, Open Roles and Register Your Interest.

Register Your Interest

This lets candidates leave their details for future roles without applying for a job. Their details go straight into your talent pool and no application is created.

  1. Scroll to Register Your Interest and switch on Enable Register Your Interest tab.
  2. Optionally set the Page header (up to 255 characters). Without one, candidates see "Register your interest for future roles".
  3. Under Application form template, keep Standard fields (first name, last name, email, phone, CV) or choose one of your saved application form templates.
  4. Select Save in this area. You will see "Register Your Interest settings saved".

Embedding the page on your website

  1. Select Copy Embed Code and choose External careers page. You will see "Embed code copied to clipboard".
  2. Paste it into a page on your own site that accepts HTML.

The code has two parts: a frame that shows your careers page, and a small script that resizes the frame to fit the roles. Paste both. If your site editor removes the script, the frame stays at its starting height of 600 pixels. When you embed the page, you will usually want Hide header switched on, and Hide privacy policy link in footer if your site already shows a privacy policy.

Internal careers page

Below the Legal area is Internal Careers Page, a second, unlisted careers page for your own staff. It has its own switch, its own choice of which roles it lists, its own hide switches and privacy policy address, and its own Save button. Its link is private, but anyone who has the link can see the roles on it. Regenerate link replaces the link and cancels the old one immediately. Once it is switched on, Internal Careers Page becomes a choice when you publish a job, and the Internal careers page option in Copy Embed Code becomes available. The internal page takes its headline, tagline, introduction and branding from the settings on this screen.

Groups and subsidiaries

If your organisation is the parent of a group, a Group Careers Aggregation area appears under the main form while you are viewing the parent company. Under Careers page mode, System Admins choose whether the parent page shows only its own jobs (Show only this company's jobs) or also those of the companies ticked under Included subsidiaries. New subsidiaries are included by default. The area also has Copy Group Embed Code and View Grouped Careers Page buttons. Each subsidiary has an Edit careers page button, which sets that subsidiary's logo address, brand colour, headline, tagline and introduction and has its own Save, and a View careers page button that opens its own page.
