This update covers everything shipped to Hireroad Recruit between Saturday 23 May and Friday 29 May 2026. Highlights include the new Communications tab on candidate profiles, SMS automation, custom reports with the Article 55 compliance report for Northern Ireland, rich-text offer templates, application form defaults per job, and a wave of consistency improvements across settings and templates. Several careers page fixes and pipeline editor enhancements are also included.

What's new

Communications tab on candidate profiles

The candidate detail page now includes a dedicated Communications tab, giving you a single timeline of every message sent to a candidate.

  • Rejection emails, reminders, and other automated messages are now recorded against the candidate with source attribution, so you can see which workflow or user triggered each message.
  • Filters let you narrow the view by source, message type, or status.
  • Pagination handles long histories and stale scheduled messages are surfaced clearly.

SMS automation

For tenants where SMS is enabled, SMS messaging is now wired into the full automation surface area.

  • A new SMS automation toggle controls whether SMS reminders, interview notifications, offer notifications, and public application flow messages are sent.
  • Recipients who reply STOP are suppressed automatically and excluded from future SMS sends, in line with AC23.
  • Interviews can now be cancelled ad hoc from the UI, with the cancellation surfaced through the same SMS and email channels.

Custom reports engine and Article 55 compliance report

A configurable custom reports engine is now available, with the first report being the Article 55 / Fair Employment Compliance (FEC) report for Northern Ireland roles.

  • The Article 55 report appears under Reports when the feature flag is enabled for your tenant.
  • The report follows the same export pattern as standard reports and is gated behind the appropriate permission.

Note: Custom reports are released behind a feature flag. Contact your account manager to enable them.

Rich-text editor for offer and contract templates

Offer and contract templates now use the full rich-text editor, so you can apply formatting (headings, bullets, bold, links, merge fields) directly in the template body rather than working in plain text.

Split offer and contract template selectors

The Send offer dialog now uses two separate selectors, one for the offer template and one for the contract template, replacing the single combined selector. This makes it clearer which template will be used for each document.

Template preview across selection surfaces

A reusable template preview popover is now available on every template selection surface. Hover or click the preview action to see a rendered version of the template before applying it, without leaving the page you are on.

Pipeline stage entry emails and auto-reject

The pipeline editor now keeps stage-entry email and auto-reject controls visible per stage, so administrators can configure both behaviours directly from the pipeline view rather than navigating away. Default rejection email templates can also be set on the pipeline template itself.

Application form editor on existing jobs

The application form editor is now available on jobs that already exist, not just during the create wizard.

  • Open any job, navigate to its application form, and edit the fields directly.
  • A new Set as default action lets you promote a job's application form to be the tenant default, which is then automatically applied to new jobs on creation.

Industry sector as a first-class field

Industry sector is now a canonical field on jobs.

  • It is captured directly in the web form rather than through a generic custom field.
  • It is surfaced through API responses and worker projections, and is backfilled from existing custom field data.
  • Adzuna postings now derive their category automatically from the job's industry sector, removing a manual mapping step.

Job board credentials hardened

  • Adzuna platform credentials are now hidden from the client-facing setup screens. The integration is configured centrally and surfaced as platform-managed.
  • Reed credentials are now split between platform-managed and tenant-managed, with an IP allowlist note. Tenants only see and configure the credentials they own.

Static job board feed access

Job boards that are platform-managed (such as Adzuna) no longer display a tenant feed access section, since there are no tenant-side credentials to configure. The setting card is automatically hidden for these boards.

Job and candidate soft visibility

Jobs and candidates now support a soft hidden state. Records that are soft-hidden are excluded from the reports dashboard and from default list views, but remain in the system for audit and historical reporting. Use this to clean up the working view without losing data.

Public careers attachments

Documents attached to a job advert (for example a job description PDF or supporting brief) are now surfaced on the public careers page, so candidates can download them directly from the job detail.

Video interview pipeline stage and feedback form

A dedicated Video interview pipeline stage type is now available, separate from in-person interviews, and a matching Video interview questions feedback form type captures structured feedback against the same recordings. Per-answer playlists from HireFlix are now exposed on the candidate record for reviewers to step through.

HireFlix position lifecycle sync

When a job is published, a matching HireFlix position is now provisioned automatically and kept in sync through the job's lifecycle. Closing or republishing the job is reflected back into HireFlix without manual intervention.

Candidate timeline shows more events

The candidate timeline now surfaces additional event types so you can follow the full journey at a glance:

  • Application submissions
  • Invitations sent
  • Stage moves

Conditional rules on basic job info

The Basic info step of the job wizard now supports conditional fields.

  • Administrators can configure Show when and Required when rules for canonical basic-info fields, so fields appear or become required based on the value of another field.
  • A reorder warning prevents rules from referencing fields that have not yet been answered.
  • The first canonical use of this is the new Salary entry mode field, which controls whether Salary to is shown.

Canonical form-field contract for justifications

The justification settings UI has been rebuilt against the shared canonical form-field contract.

  • Field types are exposed using the same canonical list as the rest of the platform.
  • A new Required when option lets you make a justification field conditional on the value of another field.

Standardised settings layout and language

A consistent layout and copy pattern has been rolled out across the settings area.

  • The job configuration editor now uses the same two-column layout as other settings pages.
  • The descriptive subheaders that appeared on detail pages have been removed in favour of a cleaner page chrome.
  • The +Add button pattern and Create / Invite action labels are now consistent app-wide.

Reminder automation defaults

The Automations settings page has been refocused as a place to set defaults for reminder automations, rather than mixing reminder defaults with workflow controls. The category map and deep links into the page now reflect this, and duplicate Email labels on workflow cards have been removed.

Application form templates carry over

New jobs created in tenants with a default application form template now inherit that template automatically, so administrators do not need to reselect the form on every job.

Improvements

Salary fields are now optional canonical

The Salary to field has been demoted from a required canonical field to an optional one. Single-mode salary (a single value rather than a range) is now fully supported and validated.

Company name publish gate removed

The publish gate that required Company name to be set before a job could be published has been removed, in favour of the new canonical industry sector check.

Careers iframe resize listener

The careers embed resize listener is now served as a static script, so customer sites embedding the careers page via iframe pick up resize behaviour reliably without bundling overhead.

Video Meeting Link removed from user profile

The legacy Video Meeting Link field has been removed from the user profile page. Video meeting URLs are now sourced from the calendar integration rather than a manually entered link.

Internal field cleanup

The orphan distanceDataNotRequired field has been removed from basic-info configurations. No user-facing behaviour changes; the field had no effect.

Bug fixes

  • Communication templates can be saved. A regression that prevented communication templates from being saved through the template editor has been fixed.
  • Shortlisting review modal no longer holds stale state. Closing the shortlisting review modal now clears the selected application, so the next candidate opens with the correct context.
  • Submit and Next behaves correctly on the last candidate. The shortlisting reviewer now sees Submit and Close as the action on the final candidate, and the button is enabled as expected.
  • HTML email templates render in compose dialogs. Templates with HTML formatting now render in the compose dialog rather than appearing as raw markup.
  • Interview feedback create button no longer double-fires. The button is now guarded against rapid double-clicks, preventing duplicate feedback form creation.
  • Public attachment downloads return a clean 404. Missing or unavailable public attachments now return a consistent not-found response rather than a server error.
  • Application form template fields keep their canonical key. A regression that dropped the canonical field key when editing application form fields has been resolved.
  • Reports dashboard respects hidden jobs and candidates. Reports queries now apply the hidden filter so soft-hidden records do not appear in dashboards.
  • Migrator skips invalid contacts. The data migrator now skips Visual Files contacts with invalid emails or "No Access" custom access types, preventing failed imports.
