The company field library

Managing shared field definitions from Settings.

Rather than rebuilding the same custom field on every application form, Recruit lets you define it once in the company field library and reuse it wherever it's needed. You manage this from Settings > Custom Fields.

Application form fields vs. basic information fields

The library has two tabs:

• Application Form: fields you'll use on candidate-facing application forms.
• Basic Information: fields used on job details rather than the application form itself.

Choose the right tab before adding a field, since it decides where the field can be used.

Creating a library field

1. Select + Add Field.
2. Choose a Response Type: Text, Email, Phone, Textarea, File, URL, Select, Checkbox, Number, Date, Multi-select, Repeatable, Photo Block, Video Block, or Text/Content Block.
3. Give it a Field Label.
4. Turn on Required if it should always need an answer.
5. For Select, Checkbox, or Multi-select fields, enter your choices under Field Options, separated by commas.
6. Check the Field Preview to confirm it looks right before saving.

If you're building a Basic Information field, you'll also choose a Field Group, such as Job Details, Location Information, or Salary Information, so it's filed under the right section on the job form.

Repeatable fields

For fields candidates might need to answer more than once, such as previous employers, choose the Repeatable type. Give the group a Section Name, then add the sub-fields that should repeat together, each with its own label, type, and required setting.

Using library fields on a form

Once a field exists in the library, it's available to insert into any application form template through Add pre-built in the form builder, so you only define it once and reuse it everywhere it's needed. See Building an application form for how to add it to a specific template.
