FAQ: Time Out Settings

Question: What is the difference between "activity" vs. "inactivity" in the system? What triggers the inactivity clock for a user? What are reasons that a user would be logged out of the LMS due to inactivity? What can cause a user to logged out of the LMS?

Inactive: 

Answer: A user becomes inactive if they are not navigating within the LMS. Once they come back to their browser and start using it, they become “active” and the clock starts. This does not apply if the user has content that is currently launch, as there is a keep-alive mechanism that keeps the session alive while the user has content launch. However, if they walk away from their computer for an extended period of time and something outside the LMS causes them to lose connect, i.e. their PC going into sleep mode or something lie that, then their session may die.
